Career History
My first career as Chartered Landscape Architect, took me all around the UK, and to Kenya, Seychelles and Australia. Managing, mentoring and developing design colleagues and team members awakened my passion for people development and triggered my transition to learning and development professional, qualified coach and Myers Briggs Practitioner. I design and deliver management and leadership development programmes, facilitate group and team development, and coach teams and individuals, for public and private sector organisations.
Some of my coaching successes are
Coaching a manager in a local authority to help them find their career path, & to help them find ways of supporting their team members through major change. Coaching a manager in a government agency to help them manage personal stress & a poor performer.
What do you love about coaching?
I continue to be amazed at the power of coaching! I love coaching as it offers the possibility of making huge positive differences to people's lives.
What's your favourite movie and why?
Difficult to decide between Bambi and Jaws! Both had a huge emotional impact on me when I was growing up.
What do you like to do on a Sunday afternoon?
If it's windy I'll be at the coast windsurfing or kite surfing. If it's calm I'll probably be at the cable ski wakeboarding. It's about being outdoors with friends who share my passion for these sports.
What do we need to transform our world?
Much, much more humility.
Which three words describe you best?
Energetic, passionate, professional
How do you support your well-being?
Healthy diet and lifestyle; being guided by my values; laughing; balancing professional development with fun and playtime; and many other things...
What is the craziest thing you've ever done?
Continuing to drive home for miles along the A14 in the dark and rain after my windscreen wipers ceased to work - it was exhausting and crazy!
What is your greatest ambition?
To minimise my footprint on this planet and maximise my effectiveness in everything I do.
What is your top tip for embracing change?
Embrace it! Be open to the opportunities change offers, even if these aren't immediately apparent.
Personal message
Grasp the opportunity to be coached - you won't know what's possible until you've experienced it. Whenever I need or want to explore or try to make sense of something I find a coach. It has made a huge difference for me.
